Dr. Cummens bolsters medical informatics expertise as firm extends its technology lead

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, November 7, 2011 — RemedyMD announced today that Dr. Michael Cummens has joined the company as Chief Medical Officer. As CMO, Dr. Cummens will help drive RemedyMD’s efforts to further extend its position as the leading provider of registries and registry-based applications for life science researchers. In particular, Dr. Cummens will focus efforts on further enhancing RemedyMD’s ontology engine, one of the key drivers of the flexibility and power of the company’s Mosaic™ Platform.

Dr. Cummens brings a wealth of experience in medicine and medical informatics. He comes to RemedyMD after having served as Associate Chief Medical Information Officer at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He previously held a number of executive roles at other medical informatics companies and consulted on medical informatics matters for Partners Healthcare System, Cleveland Clinic, Ascension Health, and others. In private medical practice for over 20 years, Dr. Cummens was an early adopter of outcomes registries and electronic medical records in outpatient settings.

RemedyMD recently announced a number of significant new customer engagements, including a commitment to deploy its Investigate™ Integrated Research Management System at a set of 10 high profile cancer research laboratories at NCI-Frederick, implementation of ComprehensiveBMT™, an HSCT data management and reporting system at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and selection of the Mosaic Platform by the American Joint Replacement Registry.

“Dr. Cummens joins us at an exciting time and we’re delighted to have his expertise as we respond to the overwhelming demand for our registries and registry-based products like Investigate and ComprehensiveBMT,” commented Gary Kennedy, founder and Chief Executive Officer of RemedyMD. “The Mosaic Ontology is one of the key advantages of our platform because it harmonizes all data that enters our registries and enables the rich functionality of the Mosaic Platform’s tools. As Dr. Cummens helps us further enhance our ontology, these tools will offer even more powerful advantages to researchers looking for ways to accelerate the pace of their discoveries,” said Kennedy.
